On September 21, 2000, and Konami announced that they had entered an agreement that would enable Konami to publish a Crash Bandicoot game for next-generation game systems, with Universal Interactive handling the production of the games.
The agreement served to break the Crash Bandicoot franchise's exclusivity to Sony-produced consoles and effectively made Crash Bandicoot a mascot character for Universal rather than Sony.
After Universal fell out with Cerny and Sony, Traveller's Tales was forced to alter the game from a free-roaming title to a standard Crash title.
Traveller's Tales had to begin development of the game from scratch and were given only twelve months to complete the game.

The group enters a workshop where Coco's device is located, and with a tap of a few keys on her laptop, Coco activates the VR HUB System, allowing Crash to collect 25 crystals, and fight Cortex and Crunch.
Cortex moans over his defeat then Uka Uka comes up and reminds him Crash may have collected the crystals but since he doesn't have the gems, they can use them to bring The Elementals back once again before Crash gets the gems.
The True Ending Cortex moans over his defeat.
Then Uka Uka furiously attempts to attack Cortex, but misses and inadvertently releases Crunch from his mind control by damaging the machinery in the space station.

From the start, you will be across a river.
Just go forward and collect the crates and go across the bridge.
Be careful of the Native on the other side.
He is pretty simple to dodge due to the fact he only throws his spears straight ahead.
So just move off to the side and then spin at him.
Afterwards, just keep following the crates along, you should come up to a wall of sorts, made of crates.
Just take out the top crates, then set off the TNT crates below.
Just past this wall of crates you will find two more Natives.
Again, just move off to the side and come around and kill them.
Just past them are a two more crates, one is a Switch box.
Use the box below it to bounce up and hit it, if crash wrath of cortex bonus accidentally destroy the box below, just use a high jump.
Keep going, and you'll come across crates with a Nitro crate behind it.
Just be careful not to hit it, and move around it.
Soon you'll reach the first checkpoint.
After you hit it, be careful going between the two stone buildings because two Natives are just around the curve and you could very easily run right into them!
Soon after, you'll come to a cliff.
Just jump off and get the crate that is hanging in the air nearby.
Next you'll come across a stack of crates, in a stair-like fashion.
Just destroy the ones you can by jumping source them and using them to bounce you up further.
Then just body slam the Steel crates that are supporting them.
Next you'll come up to the river.
Just be careful not to walk to the left and go in the deep end, if you do, you can quickly jump out.
If you just sit there you are gonna end up dying.
So stay outta the deep end!
Anyways, just go down the river, and take out the crates.
You should reach a area right before a tunnel of types.
To the right you will see a few TNT crates, and then a few Outline boxes behind them.
Take out the TNT crates for now, then follow the river a little ways and you should find a Switch box in the tunnel.
Just jump on it and activate it, then return back to the Outline boxes and smash them.
You will soon reach the end of the river, and find another checkpoint.
You should notice a tree stump looking thing off to your left.
This is actually the Bonus Level platform!
And in front of you, is a jeep.
So, go through the Bonus level, and then when you finish, hop in the jeep.
The Jeep section is somewhat easy, but you may have a bit of trouble at first.
When you start off, a bunch of Rhino's will stampede you.
Don't worry about steering towards all the crates, the Rhino's will take them out.
Except for the crate off the third ramp.
Although it is easy to get this crate as the fruits lead right up to the ramp.
It is along the right side.
The best way to make sure you don't die is to follow the fruits.
They will lead you towards the ramps, and you should be able to safely make it across the ramps.
The Rhinos should soon take a turn and you are free for a moment.
You enter a tunnel and run into a checkpoint.
Then stay along the middle, perhaps slow down a bit, and take out the two crates halfway through the tunnel.
When you near the exit, stay to your left and you should find a sole crate left to hit.
Make sure you hit it, because the Rhino's are coming back and they aren't over far enough to hit it.
Just continue on and follow the fruits, and you'll lose the Rhino's in no time.
You'll soon run into a downed tree, and then be back on foot.
Destroy the few crates you come across, then run across the bridge.
Hit the Nitro switch box, and that should take care of all the crates.
Bonus Level When you reach this Bonus Level, you'll find it is basically you going along a leaf covered bridge.
You will come across a area with Outline boxes.
You should see the nearby Switch box above a TNT crate.
Just jump on top of the TNT crate and use it to bounce up and hit the switch.
Afterwards, take out the rest of the nearby crates.
As you go forward, you will come to an area with two iron crates, followed by a bunch of Nitro crates.
Stand on the iron crates and then hold L2 to tip toe across the Nitro crates.
Make sure you got everything you needed beforehand, because you must detonate the TNT crates afterwards, and they cause all the Nitro crates to be destroyed.
The next area takes place behind the waterfall.
It is pretty simple, just destroy the crates.
The only problem you may have is being annoyed by the water that hinders your view only slightly.
But it really shouldn't be a problem at all.
The rest of the level is relatively simple.
Just follow crash wrath of cortex bonus the bridge and destroy the crates in the way.
Near the end, there is one section with a few crates hanging in the air.
Just jump on them and bounce to the next crate.
When you reach the bouncy crate, it takes five hits before it is smashed.

This level may take a bit of getting used to, as the controls are different, and your only move is Crash's spin, which is performed by pressing Square or Circle.
You can also move forward a bit faster with the X button.
It is also best to stay near the top of this level, as there are mines that source from the top.
When you start, you will find a few Jellyfish ahead of you.
They keep going in the same pattern, just straight up.
Just spin right through them and watch out for the fish on the other side.
Although I said stay near the top, you need to go to the bottom to pick up the crates.
But if you stay near the middle, you should be able to get a decent view of each areas, so you can watch out for mines, and still see crates you must smash.
The first crate you see is just laying set bonus dynasty the sand, the next two are hidden behind the nearby weeds.
Just spin dash behind them to pick smash 'em.
The next area you come to has two Fish near the top and bottoms.
Just watch out for them and then either kill them, or swim learn more here them.

A few Nitro crates soon appear, just go over them, and when you get past the red weeds, watch out for a few Mines.
After the Mines, just swim into the tunnel.

Make sure you bust the two crates in this tunnel, as you swim down.
When you exit this tunnel, you will see Mines to the right.
Don't worry about them, follow the fruit and be careful for the big red Fish swimming nearby.
Destroy the crates near the bottom, and then just push forward.
The rest of this section is simple, just push forward, and watch out for Mines.
Just follow the fruits and you should come across a few crates to smash.
Soon you will reach another tunnel.
There are two crates inside, afterwards, just follow the fruit out of the tunnel and tap the TNT crate with your nose to set it off.
The checkpoint is just below, and then afterwards a few more TNT crates.
You must detonate these to make it pass Once they are destroyed, they will cause the Iron crates to drop and allow you to pass.
Soon after is another tunnel.
Go through it and when you reach the area where there is a vertical tunnel, be careful.
A Mine should drop in this area, so just hold back and let it pass.
Afterwards you enter in a big steel tube and, suprise, come out in the sub!
The sub is pretty easy click at this page use, and you shouldn't have much trouble.
You shouldn't have much of a problem going across to the next tunnel in the sub.
Your main problem will probably be Mines.
So take it slow and fire torpedoes as you go.
This should clear out any enemies along the way.
It shouldn't take long to reach the tunnel.
When you come down the tunnel, drop some depth charges here destroy any crates as you go.
When you reach the bottom, hit the checkpoint and continue forward.
You will come across a bunch of Iron crates, and a few Nitro crates.
Do not drop a depth charger on them.
Instead hit the Switch box up a bit higher and this should cause a few crates to appear near the Crash wrath of cortex bonus crates.
Now destroy the first set of Nitro crates, and this in turn should trigger another Switch which will allow you to destroy the second set of Nitro crates, so you can take out all the crates without missing any.
Follow the fruit and you will come to a wall of Iron crates.
Just drop a depth charger and let it hit the Nitro crates below, which will cause parts of the wall to drop, allowing you to pass.
Another tunnel is up next, when you reach the wider portion, you will find a few Mines lined up across the top.
Just let them fall and shoot them as they go down and keep moving.
When you reach the end, another Scuba Diver is there, just blast him and get the crates near him.
Afterwards, go through the next tunnel, being careful not to hit the fish that is swimming back and forth.
Finish that tunnel, find the Nitro Switch box just outside of the tunnel, hit it, and pick up your clear gem and warp out of the level.

When you come around you will find yet another set of ledges.
These stay still until you land on them, in which they then quickly move in.
If you make it past them, you will find a Gecko on the nearby platform.
Just attack it as you come down.
Afterwards, go across the next platform, and go through the opening.
You should come out in a China town of sorts, and enter a small maze, where you will end up in a birds eye view of Coco.
Well, it's not even much of a maze, more of a twisty-turny area.
Just follow along, and kill the Geckos and Ninjas who are placed about.
When you reach the end, you will find a checkpoint.
The game will revert back to a side scrolling session now, as you continue on.

This roof is made of cloth, so it is hard to move on, since you actually bounce.
It makes it difficult to line up with the fruits if you want to collect them.
Anyways, use it like any spring crate and bounce over to the next balcony.
Just work your way across the ledges and you should reach your next checkpoint.
Next you must move across a few more ledges.
This can be a bit annoying due to the fact that the jumps are sort of hard to make.
Mainly due to the lighting and it makes it harder to see a shadow.
Anyways, make it to the Spring crate and work your way around to the next balcony.
Along this balcony you will see a few Nitro crates below, then a weird circle design.
Destroy the crates at the end and drop down the balcony to the lower level.
Behind the circle design, is a 1-Up crate!
Go a little farther ahead and you will find the Nitro Switch box.
Bonus Level This Bonus Level isn't too hard.
Just pay attention to the crates, as some of them you must land on and bounce off to survive.
At first you must bounce up various crates, and then destroy a tower of them.
At the bottom is a TNT crate which you can set off and then bounce to the Bouncy box.
Use the Bouncy box to hit the Iron Switch box, which will cause a few crates to appear in front of you.
Jumps over the Nitro crates and hit the regular crate.
You must move down a bit to stay in line with the crates, destroy the nearby crates and then bounce off the crate on top of the Nitro crate.
As you go up spin into the crates that are up higher so you can safely land on the platform.
Set off the TNT crates and go across the roof tops.
You should be nearing the end, so just be careful.
After the next row of TNT crates, you must jump to a crate floating in the air, and then bounce from that to the next platform.
If not, you will fall into the water.
Afterwards, you should be at the end and jump on the platform to head back.
Red Gem Path When you start, the first thing you will see are a bunch of Nitro crates.
Just steer clear of them.
At the first jump, be careful of the fish.
Once you land, a ninja may be at the next platform.
Kill him and then be careful jumping to the next platform.

Run through the cave, but be careful of the Bombing Bandit near the beginning.
Make it through and you should soon come across a lab-type tunnel.
This is where you have to be careful.
That green stuff isn't water, and definitely isn't safe!
This can be a bit tricky, but you must jump from the platform to the normal crate and then bounce from that to the next set of crates.
When you make it across, be careful of the Flame Thrower at the end.
Kill him and smash the nearby crates and reach the next checkpoint.
After the checkpoint, make it over the row of Nitro crates and then destroy the two Bombing Bandits just past them.
You'll come up to another section where the funky green liquid is.
Just use your shadow to help you land on the Iron crates so you don't die.
Once you make it to the other side, you have to deal with two Flame Throwers.
Kill them and take out the crates nearby.
Go down the hall to find two Bombing Bandits.
Just take them out, and take out the crates near them.
Soon after is the next checkpoint.
Yet more icky green jumping fun is up ahead.
This one has a rather long jump at the beginning.
Again, use your shadow to make your way across.
Make it to the other side and take out the enemy, and move on.
There will be two Bombing Bandits, and then you'll find the Bonus Level platform just past a set of crates!
Around the turn are two Fish, flopping about.
Just spin or slide into them and then be careful around the next turn, as there are two Bombing Bandits.
Take them out and you'll come up to a row of Iron crates, with Nitro crates just past it.
Get the crate on the left, and then jump over the Iron crates along one of the sides.
Make it across and kill the Flame Thrower.

Make it around the first turn and you will find a few more crates and your Nitro Switch box.

First, get on top of the Iron crates and high jump into the crates above it.
Afterwards, hold down L2 and tip toe across the Nitro crates.
You should drop off the end and set off a TNT crate.
Quickly jump on the Spring crate nearby and get the other crates, then move to the next platform before the TNT crate explodes.
Once it explodes, it takes out all near it, including the row of Nitro crates.
Once past it, the end is up close, just jump on over and hop onto the platform.
BOSS 2: DRAIN DAMAGE WA-WA This boss requires four hits.
And it requires you to make some good jumps.
First off, Wa-Wa will have a few attacks.
A low blue attack and a high green attack.
You must jump across platforms, while dodge these attacks.
If you are on the platforms too long, they will sink!
The first part only has Wa-Wa doing low attacks.
Just jump over them and jump at him while spinning to hurt him.
The second "round" has Wa-Wa doing the high attacks and low attacks, alternating them.
